Thirty-seven children were selected to attend the carnival and many more students must be commended for the effort and time they committed for participating in the school trials which preceded the carnival. I must say I was very proud of our children in the manner they conducted themselves on the day. The children showcased our school in the best possible way by competing in true sportsperson like spirit and by giving their best.
Highlights of the day was Jack Fielden’s first place in the symbolic 1500m event and Rose Browne who won the age champion for the Year 6 girls.
I would like to thank the parents who volunteered their time in assisting with the day. A special mention to Tanya Smerdon who officiated in the carnival, Hayley Burgon, Voula Antonopoulos, Tash Paterakis and Kate Turner for being so giving of their time managing the running of the day. I would also like to thank all our students who were so supportive of each other’s efforts and the manner in which they conducted themselves representing our school. Their invaluable with endless cheering and creating a unique St John Bosco community spirit!
I wish to also thank all the school staff for all their support and help throughout the whole journey which culminates in taking the students to the carnival and most importantly in creating a successful and memorable day in the students’ school lives.
A great team effort by all!
