Week 10 Term 3 2022
It’s hard to believe that is already the end of Term 3. Thankfully the sun came out to play today for our St John Bosco Be Active Day. The children had an amazing time getting fit while being immersed in colour. A big thank you to Dino Zandona and the staff for planning the event. It was lovely to have so many families come along and volunteer and cheer on our runners, joggers and even walkers! We look forward to backing up this fantastic day of fitness with our Sports Day, Week One of Term 4 on Friday 21st October.
Catholic Music Festival
On Tuesday evening I had the pleasure of attending the Festival Theatre to watch our St John Bosco Choir participate in the Catholic Music Festival ‘Hear Us’ performance. Our eleven girls joined 12 other catholic schools in a combined choir with over 200 children on stage. With the whole choir only gathering for one shared rehearsal, the performance was nothing but amazing. A group of nine St John Bosco staff sat together in the audience to watch our girls perform in absolute awe at the talent and enjoyment our children were displaying on stage. A big thank you to our Year 5-6 teacher Leah Bellifemini who stepped into the role of choir trainer this year. With no experience Leah took on the challenge and achieved amazing results. I know at times throughout the year some of the girls had doubts about being part of the choir as practicing each week as a group and individually at home can become monotonous. With persistence and resilience the girls were thrilled to finally be up on stage and conversations after the performance they were all buzzing with excitement and agreed all the hard work was well worth it. Nine of the girls will do it all again in 2023, with hopefully another group of children joining the choir to make it a larger group. A huge congratulations to Ivy, Mia, Elle, Sophie, Japnoor, Jemima, Paola, Kathlyn, Jessica, Faith and Dishita, you were all shining brightly, well done!
Mission Day
On Friday 16th September our Year 5-6 children organised our annual Mission Day. The children did a fantastic job not only on the day but before the event with lots of planning, preparation and budgeting. The children’s teaching and learning leading up to Mission Day was heavily centred on the organisation of the day. After the event the children reflected on their small business, what were their successes, challenges and highlights.
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday break. We look forward to seeing you all ready for an action packed Term 4.
Best wishes
